Internet and EFL: some pedagogical considerations.
Resumen
The development of technology has affected many aspects of everyday life, among them leaming and teaching. One of the fields where the usefulness of technology is undeniable is English Language Teaching. This paper presents a theoretical discussion on the pedagogical justification for the incorporation of the Internet to the EFL instruction at UQROO. Also, the theoretical discussion has been directed towards to argue to what extent the incorporation of the Internet to the EFL instruction at UQROO contributes to the objectives of the English Language Major (ELM) and The Four fundamental Principies that rule the functions of the University of Quintana Roo.
The work involved a revision of both printed and electronic documents. This exploration of documents allowed defining EFL and recognizing the language leaming theories that have been the base ofEFL throughout history. We also gave a look at the EFL instruction at UQROO to see what its current characteristics are. We discussed a recent study to fmd out the language Iearning theories that UQROO EFL teacher base its instruction on. We analyzed the strengths and weaknesses of EFL instruction at UQROO. We also gave a snapshot to the Objectives of the English Language Major, one of the contexts where EFL instruction takes place at UQROO and we took a look at the Four Fundamental Principies that rule the functions of the University of Quintana Roo. This allowed to pave the terrain for a further introduction of the Internet.
