Glossary of immigration: spanish-english terms related to inmigration procedures at the INM in Quintana Roo.

Abstract

The goal of this research is to create a Spanish-English glossary that will be useful for people who work at Instituto Nacional de Migración (INM). The general research topic is immigration and specifically immigration procedures. Every foreigner who wishes to legally enter Mexican territory has to go to an immigration office in order to fill some forms. It was not an easy task to choose a specific topic because there are plenty of fields in immigration sector that could be researched. Finally, the field and subfield were chosen. Thus, this work will be a glossary of terms used in paperwork at the INM. The need to count on a Spanish-English glossary is undeniable. First, Quintana Roo is a tourist state where many foreigners come to spend some time. Many English speakers like British, American, Australian, etc. visit the north of this state, the Riviera Maya. We can also see foreigners from different countries such as China, Italy, France and Germany. The language that they mainly use to communicate is English.
