Enrolling in the english laguage major: reasons and expectations.

Abstract

Since the English language is a very important tool all around the world, as well as a mechanism for learning or understanding many issues, people try to study the Lengua Inglesa' major for their own benefit. Some may study English only for being able to communicate, while others go deeper and get finto a major like Lengua Inglesa. But what is the main reason that they have for studying this major? Are they forced to study it? Do they really want to study English? Are they really motivated to enroll in a program like this? There have been many people who register in the English Language major in the University But, there have also been many of them who drop out from it and even though that does not apply to alI of them it does not give a good impression of the college. Some of the students have problems and stay behind one or more years. When that occurs they waste time, money and effort. Therefore, there have always been questions about this situation. when and why does that happen?, and how can we avoid it? Those are the main questions raised and led to this research.
