The use of metacognitive strategies in the listening skill: the case of english language major students at the University of Quintana Roo
Abstract
The development of the listening skill is fundamental in the process of learning a foreign language. It gives students the possibility to reduce confusion and misunderstandings as well as evaluate the information they hear. However, there are many factors that may affect the mastering of this skill; for example, the lack of knowledge about using metacognitive strategies. For that reason, and taking into account my experience as an English language major student, this study aims at demonstrating to what extent English language major students at the University of Quintana Roo make use of metacognitive strategies to develop their listening skill.
